Staked, a cryptocurrency startup which targets institutional investors of proof-of-stake cryptocurrencies, has raised $4.5 million in a seed funding round. The company announced the news in a press release on January 31, saying that the funding round was led by Pantera Capital, one of the biggest crypto investment firms in the US. Pantera Capital led the round with participation from major industry investors such as Coinbase Ventures, Winklevoss Capital, Fabric Ventures, and Blocktree Capital. According to the release, Pantera Capital reportedly first contacted the company as a potential customer but ended up investing in it as well. And now Paul Veradittakit, a partner at Pantera Capital, will be also joining Staked’s board of directors.
Staked helps institutional investors in digital currencies ern their network staking rewards and currently supports staking for cryptocurrencies Tezos (XTZ), Dash (DASH), Decred (DCR), Livepeer (LPT), Factom (FCT) and Eos (EOS).
