Spanish Region Aragon Gives $13 Million to Develop New Tech, Including Blockchain

The government of the Spanish autonomous community of Aragon has allocated over $13 million for the development of “Industry 4.0,” which includes blockchain, AI, and other emerging technologies. According to a February 12 report from local news outlet La Vanguardia, the funds were co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).

The donation for the Operational Program for Aragon for 2014-2020, which is said to be twice the originally planned amount, will be used to develop industrial property and consulting projects.

The aim of the program is to attract representatives from various industrial sectors to the area, including research centers and technology firms to work on digital solutions adapted for industry use.

According to La Vanguardia, the program will also help small and medium enterprises (SMEs) digitalize their business operations and products. Technology companies wishing to develop their R&D will also benefit from the program.
